Writing a review

What can I review?

Any home in the UK you rented and lived in during the last 3 years: a flat, a house, a room in a shared home or student accommodation.

What do I need?

Your email, and a tenancy agreement or a proof of address for the home: a council tax bill, a utility bill, a bank statement or an official letter. A PDF or a photo is fine.

Can I write in my own language?

Yes. Write in any language: we translate your review into English and show that it was translated.

I didn’t get the email or the code

Check your spam or junk folder first. On the page where you wrote your review you can press “send it again” (up to 3 times a day). Still nothing? Speak to us and we’ll help.

After you send it

How long does the check take?

Usually a few minutes: we read your document automatically and publish your review as “Verified tenant”. If our moderator needs to look at it, up to 2 working days. We email you when it’s live.

How do I see or change my review?

Open the menu and press My reviews, then type the email you used. We email you a private link to all your reviews, where you can see if they’re live, read the landlord’s reply and change them.

Why wasn’t my review published?

Usually because the document doesn’t show your name or this address, or the review breaks a rule (for example it names people). We tell you why by email, and you can change your review and send it again.

Can I delete my review?

Yes, any time: open it from My reviews, press Edit, then “Delete my review” at the bottom.

Privacy

Will my landlord know it was me?

Your name, email and document are never shown on the site or given to landlords or agents, and neither are the dates you lived there. Details in your review can still give you away, so leave out anything only you would know.

What happens to my document?

Only our moderators can see it. We keep it privately as proof that you lived there, and delete it later: how long we keep it.

Landlords and agents

Can I reply to a review?

Yes. Go to For landlords, prove that you own or manage the home, and you can reply publicly to its reviews. Your replies are under My replies in the menu.

Can a review be removed?

Nobody can pay to hide or remove a review. If a review is untrue or breaks our rules, press “⚑ Report this review” under it, or make a legal complaint.

Still need help?

Write to us and a real person will answer, usually within 2 working days.
